Alakai Swamp Trail is a one trailhead wilderness trail, so you'll be backcountry backpacking it in and back out. This neighborhood does get very dry sometimes, so don’t forget to check for any current fire restrictions before you go. There's not much difference in elevation along Alakai Swamp Trail, so you won’t have to worry about different climate zones along your backcountry trek. This hike shouldn't take more than 5.5 hours, but of course some people walk a bit slower and some a bit faster. Being 6.4 miles long it's an average length backcountry trail. This wilderness trail has a total elevation difference of 440 feet which is a lower than average number. This is a great outdoors trail that is quite long, so do pack enough food to last the whole trip.
