All through the warm days of summer here at Wrights Valley Trail, high temperatures commonly get into the 90's. Summer night lows fall down to the 50's. restrictions with local forest authorities before you head out. This trail is a trail of wonderful length with an average amount of climbing distance which makes this backcountry hiking trail tremendous for hard core backpackers looking for adventure. This is a long wilderness
trail, so do pack enough food to last the whole trip. With its 9.4 miles of walking distance; it's considered a longer walk. This is one of many backcountry hiking trails in the surrounding area. Wrights Valley Trail has a total elevation difference of 1,472 feet which is about
average. There is only one trailhead, so you're looking at an in and out trek. The great outdoors hiking trail stays roughly within the same elevation zone the whole time which means the conditions are about the same from start to finish. Please follow all local rules about fires
and camping.
Briefly about the general area:
This is no place for people who don’t like to enjoy themselves. Wrights Valley Trail is a great site to camp, Little Doe Campground is a great site, and Bell Spring is always fun to check out. Fern Point is not far from Wrights
Valley Trail at all, and Foster Glades is a nice place.
Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Klamath Mountains. Places like Haynes Delight are splendid to go to. North Fork Middle Fork Eel River is a delightful stream that is worth taking a look at, and Wrights Valley is
another great place to stop by nearby. But wait, there's more amusing things to do in the Klamath Mountains. If you come at the right time of year, Eel River - North Fork offers some perfect whitewater; why not a little side visit to Balm of Gilead Creek.
Float down the rapids of Mad River in a kayak, and camping at Wrights Valley Trail is glorious fun, Hammerhorn Campground is a glorious local campground.
