California hiking trails - Tunnel Trail, Santa Ynez Mountains, Santa Barbara County

   
  Alright, enough of spending all this time inside a building, time to get out, and Tunnel Trail in Santa Barbara County, California is just the location. If you are in California during hiking season you have to go hiking. Tunnel Trail is not very in the neighborhood of Santa Barbara-Santa Maria-Goleta at all, but hiking it is always cool. This is a neighborhood covered with lots of great outdoors hiking trails. Please follow all local rules about fires and camping. These backpacking and hiking trails here in the Santa Ynez Mountains are a tremendous way to explore
    these mountaintops. Around Tunnel Trail you don’t get a lot of rainfall; the month of February is the wettest with most of the rain; the driest of the months is July. Tunnel Trail is a very short backpacking and hiking trail having an average number of uphill miles which makes
this great outdoors hiking trail good for the average backcountry walker looking for an amusing adventure. There are backcountry trails all over California, and Tunnel Trail is one of them, and it's in Santa Barbara County. With its 3 miles of walking distance it's a shorter type trek. This walk shouldn't take more than 2.5 hours, but of course some people walk a bit slower and some a bit faster. During the days of summer, highs regularly are in the 90's at Tunnel Trail. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 50's. Daytime highs during the winter are  
in the 60's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Tunnel Trail dip into the 30's. Tunnel Trail is not that long but you should still bring some emergency supplies just in case something happens. This backpacking and hiking trail sometimes gets very dry, so don’t forget to check for any current fire restrictions before you go. There is only one trailhead, so in and out is the way to backcountry trek it normally. There's not much difference in elevation along the hiking and backpacking trail which means the conditions are about the same from start to finish. Every backcountry trail in California is gorgeous in its own way. If you happen to be in California, why not go backcountry backpacking, it is something that is always fun to do. The total elevation difference for Tunnel Trail is 1,150 feet which is an average number.

There's so much to do here at Tunnel Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Santa Barbara County Park Dept is a delightful spot for that. One of the best things about Tunnel Trail is its proximity to West Beach, and Tunnel Trail is good enough to spend more than a day at, Ocean Mesa Campground is a good local campground.
During your stay at Tunnel Trail do take a look at nearby East Beach. If you're here, you might as well check out Angostura Pass, and lots of folks from Santa Barbara-Santa Maria-Goleta come here.
