It is very dried out here at Santa Cruz Trail frequently; of all the months in a year February is the one with the most rain, and July is the month with the least moisture. Now, this is roughly a 3-day backcountry walk, so make sure you've got all your overnight gear packed. There are many great backpacking and hiking trails in California; Santa Cruz Trail in Santa Barbara County is one of them. Santa Cruz Trail is a very long backcountry hiking trail having an average number of uphill miles which makes this wilderness hiking trail tremendous for hard core backpackers looking for adventure. This backcountry hiking trail goes through some very different elevations, so keep in mind that you may need to dress differently at different elevations.

Briefly about the general area:
A spree to close by Santa Ynez Point is very relaxing, and do set aside some time for Hidden Potrero while you're here at Santa Cruz Trail. Now, you may assume that's a lot but there's even more exciting stuff to do here at Santa Cruz Trail. A short journey to Mud Spring is always worthwhile, and the trees of Los Padres National Forest are a good source of shade on hot summer days.
Some of the water nearby flows, like East Fork Santa Cruz Creek. West Fork Santa Cruz Creek is a tremendous spot to explore. There's so much to do here at Santa Cruz Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Ninteen Oaks Campground is a tremendous place for that. So much cool stuff to do here in the Sierra Madre, too good to be true. Lots of folks from Santa Barbara-Santa Maria-Goleta come to Santa Cruz Trail, and you must positively dedicate some time to Nineteen Oaks if you're here at Santa Cruz Trail.
Man, is there plenty of cool stuff to do in the Sierra Madre. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Cuyama River, and Little Pine Spring is a beautiful place to stop by while you're at Santa Cruz Trail. A delightful site to have a look at next to Santa Cruz Trail is Black Canyon, and if you came to camp Coche Campground is a perfect place to do that.
