San Juan Trail has a total elevation difference of 2,482 feet which is an average number. Different parts of San Juan Trail are at very different elevations which of course means you need to be prepared for different conditions on different parts of the great outdoors trail. This vicinity does get very dry sometimes, so don’t forget to check for any current fire restrictions before you go. This great outdoors trail has two trailheads which means you have the option of backcountry backpacking it one way if you have someone to pick you up at the other end. San Juan Trail is 11 miles long; it's considered a longer hike. Now this hiking trail is pretty long, so do pack enough food to last the whole trip. Now, this is roughly a 1.5-day backcountry walk, so it's a good thing if your backpack is big enough to do the job.
