Ana Mountains are a really good way to spend quality time in the wilderness. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to San Juan Trail, and through the night it cools down to the 60's. High temperatures through the wintertime are normally in the 60's, and winter nights come with lows
in the 40's to San Juan Trail. Some parts of San Juan Trail are much higher up than other parts of the hiking and backpacking trail, so keep in mind that you may need to dress differently at different elevations. San Juan Trail is 11 miles long; it's considered a longer backcountry
trek.
Briefly about the general area:
There's no way anybody can get bored here in the Santa Ana Mountains. Falcon Campground is a great local campground, and don’t forget to take a look at Verdugo Potrero while you're here at San Juan Trail. Put some time aside to spend
at Chiquito Spring while you're here at San Juan Trail, and paddling on Santa Margarita River is so much fun.
If you came for an overnight stay Lower San Juan Campground is a nice spot to camp, and do set aside some time for Oak Flats since you're here at San Juan Trail. If
you want a tremendous time in the great outdoors, just come on down to San Juan Trail. Crow Spring is a good local attraction; Hot Spring Canyon is a tremendous place to take a look at.
