California hiking trails - San Juan Trail, Santa Ana Mountains, Orange County

   
  Hitting the backpacking trails is always a fun thing to do, and San Juan Trail in Orange County, California is such a magnificent place. There are hiking and backpacking trails all over California, and one of those is San Juan Trail in Orange County. Quite far from Los Angeles-Long Beach-Santa Ana you discover San Juan Trail, but it is one of many nice backpacking trails in this area. At parts of the year this region sees very little rain, so make sure you check current conditions and fire restrictions with local forest authorities before you head out. San
    Juan Trail goes through some very different elevations, so keep in mind that you may need to dress differently at different elevations. The pretty wilderness trails of the Santa Ana Mountains are the best way to enjoy these summits. High temperatures at San Juan Trail through the
warmest time of the year are in the 80's. Summer overnight lows drop down to the 60's. All through the winter the highs are commonly in the 60's, and through the dark hours in the winter at San Juan Trail temperatures drop to the 40's. With its 11 miles of walking distance; it's considered a longer hike. Trekking here in California is a perfect way to spend some time. The length of this wilderness trail is on the longer side with an average amount of climbing distance which makes it a tremendous wilderness hiking trail for experienced walkers in good shape.  
This is a two-ended backcountry hiking trail with two trailheads which means you have the option of trekking it one way if you have someone to pick you up at the other end. No chance of getting bored in California if you like nature. At San Juan Trail you don’t see much precipitation; January is the month that gets the most rain, and July on the other hand is the driest. Please follow all local rules about fires and camping. This is a neighborhood covered with lots of wilderness hiking trails. Every single California hiking and backpacking trail is different from the others. San Juan Trail is quite long, so make sure you bring plenty of supplies. This backcountry walk should take you about 1.5 days, so better have big backpack to fit all the stuff you need. San Juan Trail has a total elevation difference of 2,482 feet, and that is about average.

Briefly about the general area:
Don't leave San Juan Trail without first paying a visit to Chiquito Spring; everyone loves Oak Flats. Yep, outdoors entertaining things truly is bountiful here in the Santa Ana Mountains. It's always great to go to Crow Spring; Verdugo Potrero is a tremendous place.
If you want a nice time in the great outdoors, just come on down to San Juan Trail. Since you're here at San Juan Trail why not stop by Hot Spring Canyon; camping is available at Falcon Campground. There are some glorious whitewater spots on Santa Margarita River, and a nice place to camp here at San Juan Trail is Lower San Juan Campground.
