California hiking trails - Salmon Lake Trail, Northern Sierra Nevada, Placer County

   
  With so many outdoors pursuits available in California you'll never get bored. Each one of the many wilderness trails of California has its own character. Backpacking and hiking trails are perfect and plentiful in California, and Salmon Lake Trail in Placer County is one of them. This trail sometimes gets very dry, so don’t forget to check for any current fire restrictions before you go. You should count on this backcountry trek taking about 3 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. The hiking trail
    stays roughly within the same elevation zone the whole time, so you get pretty much the same conditions along the whole hiking trail. Being 3.6 miles long it's a short hiking trail. This is a one trailhead trail, so you'll be backpacking it in and back out. The hiking trails of
the Northern Sierra Nevada are the best way to enjoy these peaks. All through the long summer days highs here at Salmon Lake Trail reach the 80's, and the nighttime is somewhat chillier of course, mostly in the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's while Salmon Lake Trail nighttime low temperatures throughout the winter are in the 20's. This is an area covered with lots of trails. The total elevation difference for Salmon Lake Trail is 330 feet which is lower than average. Please follow all local rules about fires and camping.  
Even though this is not a very long trail you should still bring some emergency supplies just in case something happens. A lengthy drive separates Truckee-Grass Valley from Salmon Lake Trail, but backcountry backpacking is such a cool thing to do, and this is an excellent location to do that. This hiking trail is on the short side with an average amount of climbing distance which makes this trail great for the average backcountry walker looking for an amusing adventure. Finally, backcountry backpacking time is here again, and Salmon Lake Trail in Placer County, California is an excellent location for getting out. Hiking here in California never gets boring. All the water falling down from the sky makes Salmon Lake Trail a wet spot; all through January this neighborhood sees the most rain, and the driest of the months is July.

Briefly about the general area:
Yeah, come up here to the Northern Sierra Nevada for a delightful time. Salmon Lake Trail is a nice place to visit for more than one day, Cold Springs Campground is a nice place to camp nearby, and Fordyce Creek has a delightful whitewater paddling spot close by.
Everybody loves Pelham Flat, and lots of people from Truckee-Grass Valley come here. Sterling Lake Campground is a brilliant local campground, and in case you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Yuba River - South Fork.
