California hiking trails - Salmon Lake Trail, Northern Sierra Nevada, Placer County

   
  A long drive divides Truckee-Grass Valley from Salmon Lake Trail, but when you spend some time backcountry backpacking here you will feel like a whole new person. Hiking in California is the wonderful thing to do. Alright, enough of spending all this time inside a building, time to get out, and Salmon Lake Trail in Placer County, California is an excellent site for getting out. And keep in mind that there could be temporary safety restrictions in place. Salmon Lake Trail has only one trailhead, so in and out is the way to walk it normally. Every hiking
    trail in California is well worth a backcountry trek. At parts of the year this area sees very little rain, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. Salmon Lake Trail is 3.6 miles long it's a short wilderness trail.
Salmon Lake Trail is a wet spot that gets lots of rainfall; the month of January is the wettest with most of the rain; the driest of the months is July. Salmon Lake Trail is not that long but you should still bring some emergency supplies just in case something happens. This wilderness hiking trail is on the short side having an average number of uphill miles which makes it a splendid backpacking trail for the average person looking for a splendid adventure. All through the warm months at Salmon Lake Trail temperatures are typically in the 80's with nighttime  
lows in the 40's. High temperatures all through the wintertime are normally in the 40's while Salmon Lake Trail nighttime low temperatures all through the wintertime are in the 20's. Salmon Lake Trail has a total elevation difference of 330 feet which is a lower than average number. California has plenty of wonderful hiking trails, and Salmon Lake Trail in Placer County is one of them. California is a good spot for outdoors folks. Trekking here in the Northern Sierra Nevada is the best way to enjoy these highlands. You should count on this backcountry walk taking about 3 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. There's not much difference in elevation along Salmon Lake Trail which means the conditions are about the same from start to finish. There are so many backpacking trails in this region.

Whitewater paddling is magnificent on Fordyce Creek, and don’t forget to go to Pelham Flat while you're here at Salmon Lake Trail.
You're sure to stumble upon some nice folks from Truckee-Grass Valley here; why not camp at Sterling Lake Campground since you're here at Salmon Lake Trail. That right there is loads of enjoyable things already but it goes on, the Northern Sierra Nevada has it all. If you don’t have a problem getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Yuba River - South Fork, and Cold Springs Campground is a magnificent local campground.
