California hiking trails - Pie Canyon Trail, Sierra Madre, Santa Barbara County

   
  This part of California has an excellent deal of available outdoors pursuits. It's a long journey from Santa Barbara-Santa Maria-Goleta to Pie Canyon Trail, but it is a great trail. Great great outdoors hiking trails in California are in abundance, and Pie Canyon Trail in Santa Barbara County is one of them. Pie Canyon Trail has a total elevation difference of 1,780 feet which is about average. The pretty hiking and backpacking trails of the Sierra Madre are an excellent way to explore these peaks. Backcountry backpacking here in California never gets

of backcountry backpacking it one way if you have someone to pick you up at the other end. Each one of the many great outdoors hiking trails of California is different from the others. Around Pie Canyon Trail you don’t get a lot of rainfall; the month with most of the rain is February, and the driest of the months is July. This is one of many wilderness hiking trails in the surrounding area. With its 7.2 miles of walking distance it's a mid length backcountry walk. This is a great outdoors trail that is quite long, so make sure you bring plenty of supplies. This  
hiking trail goes through some very different elevations, and that means that some parts of the hiking trail could be very different from other parts of it. At parts of the year this area sees very little rain, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. Summertime highs at Pie Canyon Trail ordinarily tend to be in the 90's. Summer nighttime lows drop down to the 50's. For the duration of the winter the highs are ordinarily in the 60's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Pie Canyon Trail temperatures drop to the 30's. The length of this hiking and backpacking trail is about average having an average number of uphill miles which makes this wilderness hiking trail pleasant for hard core backpackers looking for adventure. The time needed for this trek is roughly 6.5 hours, but of course some folks walk a bit slower and some a bit faster.

Briefly about the general area:
A pleasant trip to Gidney Flat is a pleasant way to spend an afternoon; Little Caliente Spring is a great local attraction. Some nearby water includes Buckhorn Creek, and you can stay the night at Pegleg Campground.
You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the enjoyable stuff at Pie Canyon Trail. Be careful coming to the Sierra Madre, you might not ever wanna return home again. Getting to Indian Creek from Pie Canyon Trail is painless; you'll meet a lot of people from Santa Barbara-Santa Maria-Goleta here. Pie Canyon is next to Pie Canyon Trail and is certainly a great spot to go to; Lower Buckhorn Campground is a brilliant campground nearby.
