The total elevation difference for this hiking and backpacking trail is 925 feet which is lower than average. The time needed for this trek is roughly 3.5 hours, but of course some people walk a bit slower and some a bit faster. Being 4.2 miles long it's a mid length backcountry walk. This hiking and backpacking trail has only one trailhead, so in and out is the way to hike it normally. Old Stage Route is not that long but you should still bring some emergency supplies just in case something happens. There's not much difference in elevation along Old Stage Route, so you get pretty much the same conditions along the whole hiking trail. This vicinity does get very dry sometimes, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire.
