This backpacking and hiking trail has a total elevation difference of 2,140 feet which is an average number. Oak Spring Trail is 8.8 miles long it's a mid length walk. You should count on this backcountry walk taking about 8 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. There are two trailheads to chose from, one in each end which means you have the option of hiking it one way if you have someone to pick you up at the other end. Different parts of this hiking trail are at very different elevations which of course means you need to be prepared for different conditions on different parts of the hiking trail. Oak Spring Trail is quite long, so do pack enough food to last the whole trip. This great outdoors trail sometimes gets very dry, so make sure you check current conditions and fire restrictions with local forest authorities before you head out.
