A lot of precipitation falls at North Side Trail; during January this region sees the most rain, and July on the other hand is the driest. This trail sometimes  
gets very dry, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. The time needed for this walk is roughly 4.5 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. North Side Trail is a mid-length backpacking and hiking trail having an average number of uphill miles which makes it a fine great outdoors hiking trail for the average person looking for a fine adventure. There's not much difference in elevation along North Side Trail, so you get pretty much the same conditions along the whole great outdoors trail. This trail is not that long but it's always glorious to bring some emergency supplies, you never know what could happen.

Briefly about the general area:
There's always Cascade Dam to stop by close to North Side Trail; a brilliant location to camp here at North Side Trail is Haypress Campground. Some magnificent nature is available in Cathedral Grove, and hey, East Fork Lagunitas Creek is a nice local stream.
It's always glorious to go to Colier Spring, and swing by East Fork Fern Creek it's a good place to visit. Here at North Side Trail you'll in all probability meet some people from San Francisco-Oakland-Fremont, and Pine Point is not far at all. Muir Woods National Monument is one of the destinations in the vicinity of North Side Trail that are great to go to, and a spree to Azalea Flat revitalizes the soul.
North Side Trail truly is in the middle of a charming outdoors paradise. Dawn Falls is a great local attraction; a nice place to stop by close by is Fish Gulch. Spend the day on the beach at Red Rock Beach while you're here at North Side Trail, and camping at Laurel Dell Campground is always a tremendous experience. Everybody loves Double Bowknot, and time spent at Muir Beach is always tremendous.
You just can't envision the amount of outdoors entertaining things the area right next door to North Side Trail has to offer.
