California hiking trails - North Dome Trail, Central Sierra Nevada, Mariposa County

   
  California has plenty of fine backpacking trails, and North Dome Trail in Mariposa County is one of them. Pretty far from Madera you find North Dome Trail, but it is a magnificent sanctuary from the urban center. This part of California is always a diversion to take a look at during backcountry trekking season. At parts of the year this region sees very little rain, so make sure you check current conditions and fire restrictions with local forest authorities before you head out.     is higher than average. Please follow all local rules about fires and camping. This is a region covered with lots of backcountry trails. North Dome Trail is a quite wet place commonly with a lot of precipitation; January is the month that gets the most rain; the driest month of
the year is July. Some parts of this great outdoors hiking trail are much higher up than other parts of the great outdoors hiking trail, so keep in mind that you may need to dress differently at different elevations. This backcountry hiking trail is a very long backcountry hiking trail having an average number of uphill miles which makes it a perfect backcountry trail for experienced trekkers in good shape. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to North Dome Trail. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 50's. Daytime highs during the  
winter are in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at North Dome Trail. Now this wilderness trail is pretty long, so don't forget to pack enough supplies. Wilderness hiking trails like this one here in the Central Sierra Nevada are a very good way to see these mountains. Alright, enough of spending all this time inside a building, time to get out, and North Dome Trail in Mariposa County, California is just the spot. North Dome Trail is 14.4 miles long; it's longer than many great outdoors hiking trails. Every backpacking trail in California has something unique to offer. Of course, this is an overnight trek, 2 days normally, so make sure you've got all your overnight gear packed. Going for a hike here in California is an excellent idea.

Briefly about the general area:
Life's too short to enjoy all the enjoyable stuff near North Dome Trail. Stoneman Meadow is a great site to stretch your legs a bit; there's some flowing water nearby, Royal Arch Creek is a stream you can stop by while here. Lehamite Creek flows through this region, and camping at North Dome Trail is fine fun, Upper River Campground is a fine local campground.
Lehamite Falls is a striking spot to take a look at while you're at North Dome Trail, and a trip to Yosemite National Park is recommended. Yeah, come up here to the Central Sierra Nevada for a good time. Glide down the rapids of Yosemite Creek in a kayak, and North Pines Campground is a perfect campground here.
Be careful coming to the Central Sierra Nevada, you might not ever want to go home again. A pleasant journey to Ahwahnee Meadow is a perfect way to spend an afternoon, and a short visit to Royal Arch Cascade is always worthwhile. Indian Canyon is a good location to go to nearby, and if you come at the right time of year, Tenaya Creek offers some magnificent whitewater.
