No problem, Nelson Flat Trail in Shasta County, California is the fresh air at its best. Nelson Flat Trail is a long tour away from Redding, but backcountry trekking it is magnificent joy any time. Being 4.6 miles long it's a mid length hike. This is not a very long hiking and backpacking trail but it's always great to bring some emergency supplies, you never know what could
    happen. When you're here in California hiking along one of its hiking and backpacking trails is always a cool thing to do. California is an outstanding outdoors state. Nelson Flat Trail has a total elevation difference of 697 feet which is a lower than average number. For the period
of the warmest time of the year, highs commonly are in the 80's at Nelson Flat Trail; the overnight is somewhat chillier of course, ordinarily in the 40's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's; overnight lows in the 20's for Nelson Flat Trail. These trails here in the Southern Cascade Range are the best way to enjoy these hills. The hiking trail stays roughly within the same elevation zone the whole time, so you won’t have to worry about different climate zones along your hike. Each hiking and backpacking trail in California is well worth a walk. This  
wilderness trail has only one trailhead, so in and out is the way to backcountry hike it normally. There are so many hiking and backpacking trails in this vicinity. And keep in mind that there could be temporary safety restrictions in site. A great deal of precipitation falls at Nelson Flat Trail; all through January this region sees the most rain; the driest of the months is July. This area does get very dry sometimes, so make sure you check current conditions and fire restrictions with local forest authorities before you head out. The time needed for this backcountry walk is roughly 4 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. The length of Nelson Flat Trail is about average with an average amount of climbing distance which makes it a good hiking and backpacking trail for the average person looking for a good adventure.

Briefly about the general area:
The beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Willow Spring, and you can run the rapids of Pit River. You just can't envision the amount of outdoors fun things the Southern Cascade Range has to offer. Smith Flat is a glorious location. There's so much to do here at Nelson Flat Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Hawkins Landing Campground is a glorious site for that.
Deadlun Creek is a good site to explore, and McCloud River is a good whitewater spot close by. Some of the water nearby flows, like McGill Creek; everyone loves Nelson Flat. Yep, outdoors amusing things to do are in fact abundant here at Nelson Flat Trail. If you came to camp Deadlun Campground is a magnificent place to do that.
