  Finally, backcountry backpacking time is here again, and Monument Trail in San Diego County, California is such an excellent location. Rather far from San Diego-Carlsbad-San Marcos you discover Monument Trail, but if you're looking for an excellent location to go backcountry backpacking, this is an excellent pick. If you happen to be in California, why not go backpacking, it is something that is always fun to do. The hiking and backpacking trails of the Santa Rosa Mountains are the best way to enjoy these mountains. This is just one of a large number of backpacking
    trails in this neighborhood. Monument Trail is a very short hiking and backpacking trail having an average number of uphill miles which makes it an excellent backpacking trail for the average person looking for an excellent adventure. At Monument Trail during the warm days of summer
highs are in the 90's while night lows are regularly in the 50's. High temperatures all through the wintertime are normally in the 50's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Monument Trail. The yearly rain here at Monument Trail is about average; most of the rain falls throughout March; June on the other hand is the driest. Monument Trail is 2.6 miles long it's shorter than many backcountry trails. The time needed for this backcountry walk is roughly 2.5 hours, but of course some people walk a bit slower and some a bit faster. Please follow all  
local rules about fires and camping. Outdoors folks generally like this part of California. Monument Trail has a total elevation difference of 974 feet which is lower than average. Monument Trail is not that long but it's always nice to bring some emergency supplies, you never know what could happen. This is a two-ended great outdoors trail with two trailheads, so backcountry hiking it one way is an option if you can arrange for a ride back. Hiking trails for backpacking, and backpacking can be found all over California, and Monument Trail in San Diego County is one of them. Each backpacking and hiking trail in California has something unique to offer. The backcountry trail stays roughly within the same elevation zone the whole time which means the conditions are about the same from start to finish. At parts of the year this area sees very little rain, so make sure you check current conditions and fire restrictions with local forest authorities before you head out.

Briefly about the general area:
A magnificent place to camp here at Monument Trail is Thousand Trails; don't leave Monument Trail without first paying a visit to Japacha Spring. If you wish for a little side tour, try Green Valley.
Why not camp at Oakzanita Springs Campground since you're here at Monument Trail, and Juaquapin Creek is close to Monument Trail and is always a joy to go to. There's no way somebody can get bored here in the Santa Rosa Mountains. Arroyo Seco is one of the streams nearby that might be worth visiting It's always perfect to explore Green Valley Falls.
