California hiking trails - Monument Trail, Santa Rosa Mountains, San Diego County

   
  You can't spend all your time indoors you need to get out once in a while, and Monument Trail in San Diego County, California is such a fine spot. Going for a backcountry hike here in California is something that is always fun to do. There are so many splendid wilderness hiking trails for trekking in California; Monument Trail in San Diego County is one of them. Monument Trail is a wilderness trail rather far from San Diego-Carlsbad-San Marcos, but backcountry hiking it is always cool. Backcountry hiking here in the Santa Rosa Mountains is a really magnificent
    way to spend quality time in the great outdoors. You should count on this hike taking about 2.5 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. Backcountry hiking here in California is a must. Monument Trail is 2.6 miles long it's
shorter than many great outdoors hiking trails. There's not much difference in elevation along the great outdoors hiking trail which means the conditions are about the same from start to finish. Monument Trail is not that long but you should still bring some emergency supplies just in case something happens. This is a two-ended great outdoors trail with two trailheads which means you have the option of trekking it one way if you have someone to pick you up at the other end. own character. This area does get very dry sometimes, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. Throughout the warm months highs here at Monument Trail get into the 90's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. During the winter this place gets highs in the 50's with temperatures at Monument Trail dipping down into the 20's through winter nights. Please follow all local rules about fires and camping. Monument Trail gets a common amount of rain; the wettest month of the year is commonly March, that's the one that rains the most while June is the month with the least amount of precipitation. This great outdoors trail has a total elevation difference of 974 feet which is a lower than average number. This is just one of a large number of backcountry trails in this area. This hiking trail is on the short side with an average amount of climbing distance which makes this backcountry trail brilliant for the average backcountry trekker looking for a fun adventure.

Briefly about the general area:
Japacha Spring is a charming location to stop at while you're at Monument Trail, and camping is available at Thousand Trails. So much entertaining stuff to do in the Santa Rosa Mountains, not enough time. A short visit to Green Valley Falls is always worthwhile, and why not a little side tour to Arroyo Seco.
If you came for an overnight stay Oakzanita Springs Campground is a wonderful spot to camp. A tremendous site to explore near Monument Trail is Green Valley; do stop at Juaquapin Creek while you're here at Monument Trail.
