and fire restrictions with local forest authorities before you head out. Backcountry backpacking here in California is a must. Keep in mind that this is a long wilderness hiking trail, so don't forget to pack enough supplies.

some time for Reed Flat since you're here at Methuselah Trail; a good forest nearby is Schulman Grove. The beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Goat Spring, and Methuselah Trail is good enough to spend more than a day at, Juniper Campground is a good local campground.
Coldwater Spring is an inspiring place to pop by during your stay. You completely have to go for the White Mountains. Don't miss out on a journey to Devils Postpile National Monument since you're here at Methuselah Trail. There's so much to do here at Methuselah Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Grandview Campground is a perfect place for that.
