California hiking trails - McKinstry Trail, Northern Sierra Nevada, Placer County

The total elevation difference for this hiking and backpacking trail is 2,734 feet which is higher  
than average. Relatively far from Gardnerville Ranchos you find McKinstry Trail, but hiking is such an enjoyable thing to do, and this is an excellent place to do that. This backcountry trek should take you about 2.5 days, so make sure you've got all your overnight gear packed. This hiking trail is a hiking trail of fine length having an average number of uphill miles which makes this a very tough great outdoors hiking trail for advanced backcountry trekkers looking for a tremendous challenge. McKinstry Trail is a wet site that gets a good deal of rainfall; during January this vicinity sees the most rain, and July on the other hand is the driest. McKinstry Trail goes through some very different elevations, and that means that some parts of the hiking and backpacking trail could be very different from other parts of it. There are two trailheads to chose from, one in each end, so trekking it one way is an option if you can arrange for a ride back.

Briefly about the general area:
If you came for an overnight stay Wentworth Springs Campground is a great place to camp, and Little McKinstry Meadow is a pleasant place. Yeah, come here to McKinstry Trail for a fine time. Silver Creek - South Fork is a fine whitewater spot near McKinstry Trail, and you might also want to pay a visit to Steamboat Canyon if you're here at McKinstry Trail.
Yep, outdoors entertaining stuff truly is plentiful here in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Don't forget to take a splendid little tour to Barker Creek; a tour to McKinstry Meadow rejuvenates the spirit. Hell Hole-In Campground is a perfect campground here, and the beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Hunters Spring. If you want a perfect time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Northern Sierra Nevada. In the event that you don't mind getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on American River - South Fork.
It's a brilliant idea to pop by Five Lakes Creek, it's in the vicinity of McKinstry Trail, and don't leave McKinstry Trail without first paying a visit to Mineral Springs.
