California hiking trails - Loon Lake Trail, Northern Sierra Nevada, El Dorado County

   
  This part of California is always a pleasure to take a look at during backcountry hiking season. There are so many wonderful great outdoors trails for backcountry hiking in California; one of them being Loon Lake Trail in El Dorado County. Hitting the hiking trails is always a cool thing to do, and Loon Lake Trail in El Dorado County, California is just the place. Loon Lake Trail is located a rather long trip from Gardnerville Ranchos, but there's wonderful natural loveliness waiting for you here along it. There are so many wilderness trails in this
    area. Here in the wonderful state of California backcountry hiking is an excellent idea. For the period of the summertime months, highs usually are in the 80's at Loon Lake Trail. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 40's. High temperatures throughout the wintertime are normally
in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Loon Lake Trail. Backcountry trekking here in the Northern Sierra Nevada is a very glorious way to see these highlands. Please follow all local rules about fires and camping. This hiking and backpacking trail is not that long but you should still bring some emergency supplies just in case something happens. Loon Lake Trail is 5.4 miles long it's a mid length walk. There are numerous great outdoors trails in California, and each one has its own character. This region does get very dry sometimes,  
so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. This backcountry trek shouldn't take more than 4.5 hours, but of course some people walk a bit slower and some a bit faster. This hiking trail has a total elevation difference of 556 feet which is a lower than average number. This is a two-ended hiking trail with two trailheads which means you have the option of backcountry hiking it one way if you have someone to pick you up at the other end. There's not much difference in elevation along the backcountry trail, so you won’t have to worry about different climate zones along your walk. The length of this backpacking and hiking trail is about average with an average amount of climbing distance which makes it a glorious wilderness trail for the average person looking for a glorious adventure. Loon Lake Trail is a relatively wet site typically with a great deal of rain; the wettest month of the year is commonly January, that's the one that rains the most; July on the other hand is the driest.

Briefly about the general area:
There's so much to do here at Loon Lake Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Wentworth Springs Campground is a brilliant location for that. And if that's not enough there's a lot more amusing things to do in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Silver Creek - South Fork has a good whitewater paddling spot nearby; do set aside some time for Poison Hole while you're here at Loon Lake Trail.
Paddling on American River - South Fork is so much fun; Loon Lake Trail is good enough to spend more than a day at, Pleasant Boat-In Campground is a good local campground.
