down to the 40's. Through the winter the highs are generally in the 40's, and nighttime lows in the 20's for Loon Lake Trail. The total elevation difference for Loon Lake Trail is 556 feet which is lower than average. All the water falling down from the sky makes Loon Lake Trail
a wet location; the month of January is the wettest with most of the rain, and July meanwhile is the driest month. This backpacking and hiking trail is not that long but you should still bring some emergency supplies just in case something happens. This backcountry hike shouldn't
take more than 4.5 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. Don’t forget to check for any current restrictions or closures before you go. At parts of the year this vicinity sees very little rain, so do check for current fire
restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire.
Briefly about the general area: Drift down the rapids of Silver Creek - South Fork in a kayak. Pleasant Boat-In Campground is a brilliant local campground, and don’t forget to stop at Poison
Hole while you're here at Loon Lake Trail. Just can't get enough of the Northern Sierra Nevada. Get yourself into a kayak and hit American River - South Fork, and if you came for an overnight stay Wentworth Springs Campground is a magnificent location to camp.
