of 556 feet which is a lower than average number. This is a two-ended hiking trail with two trailheads which means you have the option of backcountry hiking it one way if you have someone to pick you up at the other end. There's not much difference in elevation along the backcountry
trail, so you won’t have to worry about different climate zones along your walk. The length of this backpacking and hiking trail is about average with an average amount of climbing distance which makes it a glorious wilderness trail for the average person looking for a glorious
adventure. Loon Lake Trail is a relatively wet site typically with a great deal of rain; the wettest month of the year is commonly January, that's the one that rains the most; July on the other hand is the driest.
Briefly about the general area: There's so much to do
here at Loon Lake Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Wentworth Springs Campground is a brilliant location for that. And if that's not enough there's a lot more amusing things to do in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Silver Creek - South Fork has a good whitewater paddling
spot nearby; do set aside some time for Poison Hole while you're here at Loon Lake Trail. Paddling on American River - South Fork is so much fun; Loon Lake Trail is good enough to spend more than a day at, Pleasant Boat-In Campground is a good local campground.
