to worry about different climate zones along your trek. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Loch Leven Trail; the nighttime is fairly cooler of course, regularly in the 40's. Throughout the wintertime the highs are regularly in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Loch Leven
Trail are in the 20's. California is a tremendous location for backcountry hikers. Loch Leven Trail is a relatively wet place regularly with a great deal of rain; the month with most of the rain is January, and July is the month with the least moisture.
Briefly about the
general area: Whitewater paddling is magnificent on Yuba River - South Fork; camping at Cold Springs Campground is always a pleasant experience. So many enjoyable things to do here in the Northern Sierra Nevada, too pleasant to be true. Paddling on Fordyce Creek is so
much fun, and you'll perhaps meet some folks from Truckee-Grass Valley here. This river is so great. Pelham Flat is a stunning site any time of year, and if you came to camp Sterling Lake Campground is a great site to do that.
