It's a long journey from Truckee-Grass Valley to Loch Leven Trail, but backpacking and hiking trails like these are
    perfect. Loch Leven Trail frequently gets lots of rain; most of the rain falls through January, and July meanwhile is the driest month. You should count on this backcountry walk taking about 4 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared
for that. Each backpacking and hiking trail in California has its own character. This part of California has a perfect deal of available outdoors activities. Through the warm days of summer, highs generally are in the 80's at Loch Leven Trail; throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. For the duration of the wintertime highs are frequently in the 40's; throughout the dark hours in the wintertime at Loch Leven Trail temperatures fall to the 20's. With its 4.4 miles of walking distance it's a mid length hike. This hiking and backpacking trail  
is a normal length hiking and backpacking trail with an average amount of climbing distance which makes this wilderness trail delightful for the average trekker looking for a cool adventure. Please follow all local rules about fires and camping. You spend the whole hike in roughly the same elevation zone, so you get pretty much the same conditions along the whole backcountry trail. This is a one trailhead wilderness hiking trail, so in and out is the way to hike it normally. Loch Leven Trail is not that long but it's always good to bring some emergency supplies, you never know what could happen. This backpacking and hiking trail sometimes gets very dry, so make sure you check current conditions and fire restrictions with local forest authorities before you head out. Hitting the backpacking and hiking trails is always a fun thing to do, and Loch Leven Trail in Placer County, California is a tremendous location to go. The charming hiking and backpacking trails of the Northern Sierra Nevada are a really brilliant way to spend quality time in the fresh air. This is one of many wilderness trails in the surrounding region. The total elevation difference for this wilderness hiking trail is 1,191 feet, and that is about average.

Briefly about the general area:
Cold Springs Campground is a magnificent local campground; there's whitewater on Fordyce Creek for all you adrenaline people. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Yuba River - South Fork, and if you came for an overnight stay Sterling Lake Campground is a delightful place to camp.
Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Northern Sierra Nevada. Loch Leven Trail is not far at all from Truckee-Grass Valley, and a visit to Pelham Flat revives the spirit.
