My wife and I did the Loch Leven Trail hike the weekend of August 30. It was beautiful! the forest, the lakes, all the towering granite formations...cant wait to re-do this one! Says Bryan Johnson
This great outdoors hiking trail has only one trailhead, so you're looking at an in and out backcountry hike. Loch Leven Trail has a total elevation difference of 1,191 feet which is about average. The time needed for this hike is roughly 4 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. With its 4.4 miles of walking distance it's a mid length backcountry hike. Loch Leven Trail is not that long but you should still bring some emergency supplies just in case something happens. This region does get very dry sometimes, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. There's not much difference in elevation along the great outdoors hiking trail, so you get pretty much the same conditions along the whole great outdoors hiking trail.
