California hiking trails - Loch Leven Trail, Northern Sierra Nevada, Placer County

When was the last time you got out in the wilderness a bit? if you happen to be in Placer County of California, Loch Leven Trail is a wonderful local wilderness trail for doing a bit of leg stretching. California has plenty of great backpacking and hiking trails; Loch Leven Trail is one of them, and it's in Placer County. This part of California has
    a nice deal of available outdoors things to do. This is a region covered with lots of backcountry trails. Don’t forget to check for any current restrictions or closures before you go. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Loch Leven Trail, and all through the
night it cools down to the 40's. Daytime highs all through the winter are in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Loch Leven Trail. Loch Leven Trail typically gets a great deal of precipitation; during January this region sees the most rain, and July is the month with the least moisture. There's not much difference in elevation along the great outdoors hiking trail, so you won’t have to worry about different climate zones along your backcountry hike. Every single California backpacking and hiking trail has its own unique beauty. The time  
needed for this hike is roughly 4 hours, but of course some folks walk a bit slower and some a bit faster. Loch Leven Trail is not that long but it's always good to bring some emergency supplies, you never know what could happen. The total elevation difference for Loch Leven Trail is 1,191 feet which is an average number. Loch Leven Trail is a mid-length trail with an average amount of climbing distance which makes this backcountry trail delightful for the average trekker looking for a fun adventure. Loch Leven Trail is not very near Truckee-Grass Valley at all, but backpacking it is glorious joy any time. Loch Leven Trail has only one trailhead, so you'll be backcountry backpacking it in and back out. Backcountry backpacking here in California is so much fun. Being 4.4 miles long it's an average length great outdoors hiking trail. Great outdoors hiking trails like this one here in the Northern Sierra Nevada are a nice way to explore these hills. This hiking and backpacking trail sometimes gets very dry, so make sure you check current conditions and fire restrictions with local forest authorities before you head out.

Briefly about the general area:
Loch Leven Trail is good enough to spend more than a day at, Sterling Lake Campground is a good local campground; whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Fordyce Creek. All year is a fine time in the Northern Sierra Nevada if you go for the outdoors. Pelham Flat is a magnificent place here at Loch Leven Trail, and there are some good whitewater spots on Yuba River - South Fork. Camping at Cold Springs Campground is always a delightful experience; if you're stopping by from Truckee-Grass Valley, you won't be the only one.
