local campground, and Holy Jim Trail is not far at all from Los Angeles-Long Beach-Santa Ana. Alder Spring is a pretty site to visit while you're at Holy Jim Trail. Holy Jim Canyon is a fine spot to explore, and a pleasant visit to Bear Flat is a good way to spend an afternoon.
Whohoo, so much cool stuff in one place! The Santa Ana Mountains is excellent! Camping at Falcon Campground is always a great experience, and Bear Spring is a great local attraction.
