This is a wonderful place to hike and enjoy the most amazing wildflowers in the Yosemite area. It follows the South Fork of the Merced with sweeping views of the river gorge. The trail also drops down to the river itself. A little bit hard but not difficult. Bring the camera! Says Mark
There is only one trailhead, so in and out is the way to backcountry hike it normally. This backcountry walk should take you about 2 days, so make sure you've got all your overnight gear packed. Keep in mind that this is a long backpacking and hiking trail, so don't forget to pack enough supplies. This backpacking and hiking trail sometimes gets very dry, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. This wilderness trail has a total elevation difference of 1,185 feet, and that is about average. Hite Cove Trail is 14.4 miles long; it's a long wilderness hiking trail. There's not much difference in elevation along Hite Cove Trail which means the conditions are about the same from start to finish.
