At parts of the year this region sees very little rain, so don’t forget to check for any current fire restrictions before you go. Highland Trail is 13.4 miles long; it's considered a longer trek. Highland Trail is many miles long having an average number of uphill miles which makes it an excellent hiking and backpacking trail for experienced walkers in  
brilliant shape. A great deal of rain falls at Highland Trail; most of the rain falls through January while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. This wilderness hiking trail has only one trailhead, so you'll be backcountry backpacking it in and back out. This is a backpacking trail that is quite long, so don't forget to pack enough supplies. This backcountry trek should take you about 2 days, so better have big backpack to fit all the stuff you need. Going for a backcountry walk here in California is so much fun. Splendid hiking and backpacking trails in California are in abundance, and Highland Trail is one of them, and it's in Marin County.

A journey to Crystal Springs will fill your soul with great feelings, and Highland Trail is a wonderful location to visit for more than one day, Olema Ranch Campgrounds is a wonderful location to camp nearby.
If you want to hit the beach, Wildcat Beach is in the neighborhood, and Muddy Hollow is a nice site to stretch your legs a bit. Bear Valley is near Highland Trail and is a magnificent location, and a pleasant spree to Divide Meadow is a great way to spend an afternoon. Millers Point is relatively close to Highland Trail, and the panoramas at Point Reyes National Seashore will blow your mind.
So many cool things to do here at Highland Trail, too great to be true. You have to certainly go to charming Kelham Beach since you're here at Highland Trail, and the beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Alamere Falls. A quick spree to Alamere Creek in close proximity to Highland Trail is a brilliant idea, and if you're interested in hydro structures, you can stop at Bear Valley Dam.
