California hiking trails - Highland Trail, Marin County

   
  Gotta get out of the town man, and Highland Trail in Marin County, California is a really great place to spend some time. California has plenty of pleasant wilderness hiking trails; one of them being Highland Trail in Marin County. As long as you like nature you will like California. If you happen to be in California, why not go backcountry trekking, it is something that is always fun to do. This backpacking trail has only one trailhead, so you'll be hiking it in and back out. For the period of the warm months here at Highland Trail, high temperatures generally
    get into the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. Through the winter highs are frequently in the 50's, and nighttime lows in the 30's for Highland Trail. Highland Trail is quite long, so don't forget to pack enough supplies. Of course, this is an overnight
walk, 2 days normally, so better have big backpack to fit all the stuff you need. Being 13.4 miles long; it's considered a longer backcountry hike. Each wilderness hiking trail in California has something unique to offer. Please follow all local rules about fires and camping. A good deal of precipitation falls at Highland Trail; January is when you get the most rain here, and July on the other hand is the driest. There's not much difference in elevation along the backcountry trail which means the conditions are about the same from start to finish. Highland  
Trail is not very in the neighborhood of Santa Rosa-Petaluma at all, but It's always fun to backcountry trek here. Highland Trail is many miles long with an average amount of climbing distance which makes this a very tough hiking trail for advanced backcountry walkers looking for a nice challenge. Sometimes this great outdoors trail gets really dry, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. Highland Trail has a total elevation difference of 919 feet which is a lower than average number. This is a vicinity covered with lots of hiking trails.

Briefly about the general area:
Don't leave Highland Trail without first paying a visit to Alamere Falls; Wildcat Beach is a pretty beach to stop at.
Bear Valley Dam is worth taking a look at since you're here; a trip to Muddy Hollow revives the soul. If you came for an overnight stay Olema Ranch Campgrounds is a brilliant place to camp; Divide Meadow is a fine place. If you go for the outdoors, you'll have a thing about Highland Trail. Looking for some flowing water? Try Coast Creek; on a gorgeous day you can go to Kelham Beach.
Why not camp at Glen Campground if you're here at Highland Trail It's always good to check out Crystal Springs. Near Highland Trail you discover nice places like Bear Valley; some of the water nearby flows, like Alamere Creek. Taking a little visit to close by Millers Point is a good idea, and Point Reyes National Seashore is a fine location close by.
