| | Trail during the summertime highs are in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 50's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 30's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Highgrade Trail fall into the 10's. This trail sometimes gets very dry, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. average number of uphill miles which makes this a very tough great outdoors trail for advanced walkers looking for a perfect challenge. Not much rain falls here at Highgrade Trail; the wettest month of the year is mostly December, that's the one that snows the most while July is
mostly the driest month. Highgrade Trail has two trailheads which means you have the option of backcountry backpacking it one way if you have someone to pick you up at the other end. Backpacking in California is a splendid idea. And keep in mind that there could be temporary safety
restrictions in place.
Briefly about the general area:
North Star Basin is right here at Highgrade Trail, and why not a little side spree to South Fork Cottonwood Creek. Mineral Spring is a delightful spot to explore while you're at Highgrade Trail, and a fine site to
camp here at Highgrade Trail is Larry Flat Campground.
This is no site for people who don’t like to have a good time. Highgrade Spring is always fun to check out. All year is a perfect time in the Warner Mountains if you go for the outdoors. Coalpit Canyon is a good site to
check out close to Highgrade Trail, and a delightful spot like O'Connors Flat here at Highgrade Trail is too glorious to miss. North Fork Cottonwood Creek is a lovely stream that is worth stopping at; Highgrade Trail is great enough to spend more than a day at, Cave Lake Campground is a great local campground.
