California is a great location for backcountry walkers. Every California hiking trail has its own character. Being 76.8 miles long; it's considered a longer walk. The length of this hiking trail is on the longer side having an average number of uphill miles which makes it a magnificent hiking and backpacking trail for experienced walkers in nice shape. Please follow
    all local rules about fires and camping. Some parts of High Sierra Trail are much higher up than other parts of the hiking trail which of course means you need to be prepared for different conditions on different parts of the hiking trail. Hiking here in the Southern Sierra Nevada
is a very good way to see these mountains. You'll must go far from Visalia-Porterville to get to High Sierra Trail, but hiking and backpacking trails like these are great. Throughout the days of summer highs here at High Sierra Trail get into the 70's with overnight lows in the 50's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 40's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at High Sierra Trail temperatures descend to the 20's. Hey, time for a walk don’t you think? High Sierra Trail in Tulare County, California is just the spot. The total elevation  
difference for this backpacking trail is 5,185 feet which is higher than average. This is a backpacking trail that is quite long, so don't forget to pack enough supplies. This is one of many hiking and backpacking trails in the surrounding area. Sometimes this backpacking trail gets really dry, so don’t forget to check for any current fire restrictions before you go. Of course, this is an overnight backcountry trek, 11.5 days normally, so better have big backpack to fit all the stuff you need. High Sierra Trail is a one trailhead backpacking trail, so you're looking at an in and out hike. High Sierra Trail gets a common amount of annual precipitation; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most rain, and the driest of the months is July.

Briefly about the general area:
A journey to close by Bobcat Point is very relaxing; you could always look at Buck Canyon. There are some splendid whitewater spots on Kaweah River; a great forest close by is Castle Creek Grove.
Tokopah Falls is a nice local attraction, and obviously Buck Creek flows through this region. And that's not all you can do here at High Sierra Trail. Looking for a great spree? Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Park is quite near High Sierra Trail; Log Bridge Campground is a wonderful campground nearby.
Man, is there a load of cool things to do in the Southern Sierra Nevada. A quick tour to Castle Creek close to High Sierra Trail is a pleasant idea, and you should absolutely dedicate some time to Bearpaw Meadow while you're here at High Sierra Trail. Don’t forget to check out Alta Meadow while you're here at High Sierra Trail, and you can stay the night at Aspen Hollow - Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park. You truly should go for the Southern Sierra Nevada. Wall Spring is always fun to check out; if you come at the right time of year, Kaweah River - Middle Fork offers some great whitewater.
