California hiking trails - Grey Trail, Northern Sierra Nevada, Placer County

    closures before you go. Grey Trail has two trailheads which means you have the option of backcountry backpacking it one way if you have someone to pick you up at the other end. Grey Trail is a long journey away from Truckee-Grass Valley, but trekking along this hiking trail is
very amusing. The length of this backcountry hiking trail is about average with an average amount of climbing distance which makes it an outstanding backcountry trail for the average person looking for an outstanding adventure. There are plenty of wilderness hiking trails in California; each one of them has its own unique beauty. This is a vicinity covered with lots of backcountry trails. Grey Trail is not that long but you should still bring some emergency supplies just in case something happens. The total elevation difference for this great outdoors hiking trail  
is 2,339 feet, and that is about average. Being 4.8 miles long it's a mid length walk. Some parts of this trail are much higher up than other parts of the trail, and that means that some parts of the trail could be very different from other parts of it. The warmest time of the year at Grey Trail arrives with high temperatures in the 90's. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's commonly in the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 50's with temperatures at Grey Trail dipping down into the 30's throughout winter nights. Grey Trail commonly gets a good deal of precipitation; during the month of January you get the most rain around here while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Wilderness hiking trails like this one here in the Northern Sierra Nevada are a great way to explore these highlands. The time needed for this hike is roughly 4 hours, but of course some people walk a bit slower and some a bit faster.

Briefly about the general area:
South Creek flows through this region; get drenched paddling on American River - South Fork. A quick journey to South Fork Rubicon River close to Grey Trail is a magnificent idea, and a glorious place to camp here at Grey Trail is Hell Hole Campground.
You definitely should have a thing about the Northern Sierra Nevada. Do set aside some time for Wildcat Meadow if you're here at Grey Trail, and don't leave Grey Trail without first paying a visit to Desert Cold Spring. Whitewater paddling is pleasant on Rubicon River, and camping is available at Dewey Campground. If only every place had this much outdoors fun stuff, what a great planet it would be.
