Gomez Trail, California

I rode this trail on my Mountain Bike on 1/17/2011. It is a Truck Trail similar to Nate Harrison Grade, which runs parallel to Gomez, trail about 1.5 miles to the southeast. There is a locked gate 1/4 mile up the fire road, then another locked gate at about 3 miles up the trail. The second gate says ''No Trespassing, Pauma Tribal Property''. I would not recommend trespassing on Pauma Tribal property. The trail meets up with the Palomar Divide Truck Trail at about 5300 feet elevation & 10 miles up. Says Lermo

The total elevation difference for this backpacking trail is 4,309 feet which is higher than average. Being 11 miles long; it's longer than many trails. Of course, this is an overnight hike, 1.5 days normally, so make sure you've got all your overnight gear packed. Gomez Trail is quite long, so make sure you bring plenty of supplies. This great outdoors trail sometimes gets very dry, so make sure you check current conditions and fire restrictions with local forest authorities before you head out. Gomez Trail is a one trailhead backpacking trail, so you'll be hiking it in and back out. Some parts of Gomez Trail are much higher up than other parts of the trail, and that means that some parts of the trail could be very different from other parts of it.

Total in and out hiking length = 11 miles

Total climbing distance = 4.6 miles

Difficulty : Difficult

Casual Hiking Pace: 1.5 days

Fast Hiking Pace: 6.5 hours

Total elevation difference: 4309 feet
