It's a wonderful idea to visit Doane Creek, it's in the neighborhood of Gomez Trail; don't leave Gomez Trail without first paying a visit to Sawyer Spring.
Do set aside some time for Chimney Flats while you're here at Gomez Trail, and if you crave a little side journey, try Doane Valley. Gomez Trail is a great site to camp, Doane Valley Campground is a great site; why not go to nearby Lion Creek while you're here at Gomez Trail. You should absolutely dedicate some time to Tin Can Flat if you're here at Gomez Trail, and camping at Gomez Trail is glorious fun, Cedar Grove Campground is a glorious local campground.
