This is a two-ended hiking and backpacking trail with two trailheads, so backcountry hiking it one way is an option if you can arrange for a ride back. There's not much difference in elevation along Foothill Trail which means the conditions are about the same from start to finish.
If you happen to be in California, why not go trekking, it is the delightful thing to do. Even though this is not a very long backcountry hiking trail it's always perfect to bring some emergency supplies, you never know what could happen. When was the last time you got out in the
wilderness a bit? Foothill Trail in Humboldt County, California is an outstanding site to go. Foothill Trail is a long trip away from Crescent City North, but backcountry trekking is such an exciting thing to do, and this is an outstanding site to do that. Don’t forget to check
for any current restrictions or closures before you go. All the water falling down from the sky makes Foothill Trail a wet site; December is the wettest month with most rain, and July is when it's the driest.
Briefly about the general area: All the outdoors cool things
in the Coast Ranges will keep you coming back repeatedly. If you want to hit the beach, Gold Bluffs Beach is close at hand, and Terwer Park Resort is a delightful campground nearby. If you came for an overnight stay Klamath Glen Resort is a good place to camp, and some of the water
close by flows, like Brown Creek. Foothill Trail is not far at all from Crescent City North, and swing by Boyes Creek it's a glorious place to check out.
