Five Lakes Creek Trail is a mid-length hiking trail having an average number of uphill miles which makes it a glorious hiking and backpacking trail for experienced walkers in tremendous
    shape. This area does get very dry sometimes, so don’t forget to check for any current fire restrictions before you go. All through the summer at Five Lakes Creek Trail temperatures are commonly in the 80's. Summer overnight lows fall down to the 40's. The wintertime brings highs
down to the 40's, and overnight lows through the wintertime for Five Lakes Creek Trail tend to be in the 20's. Relatively far from Gardnerville Ranchos you find Five Lakes Creek Trail, but it is a magnificent shelter from the settlement. This is a hiking and backpacking trail that is quite long, so make sure you bring plenty of supplies. Being 8.8 miles long it's a mid length walk. And keep in mind that there could be temporary safety restrictions in place. Backpacking and hiking trails like this one here in the Northern Sierra Nevada are a very perfect  
way to see these hills. This is just one of a large number of hiking and backpacking trails in this vicinity. This trek shouldn't take more than 8 hours, but of course some folks walk a bit slower and some a bit faster. Going for a walk here in California is the great thing to do. This backpacking and hiking trail has two trailheads, so hiking it one way is an option if you can arrange for a ride back. There's not much difference in elevation along the backpacking and hiking trail which means the conditions are about the same from start to finish. California is a glorious location for outdoors people. Five Lakes Creek Trail is a wet spot that gets a large amount of precipitation; the month with most of the rain is January; the driest month is July. This backpacking and hiking trail has a total elevation difference of 1,394 feet, and that is about average.

Briefly about the general area:
Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Northern Sierra Nevada. Willow Creek is one of the streams close by that might be worth a visit. A nice site to pop by in close proximity to Five Lakes Creek Trail is Grouse Canyon; get your heart pumping on the brilliant whitewater of Yuba River - South Fork.
What a place this is for outdoors folks. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Five Lakes Creek Trail has to offer, you can camp at Hell Hole-In Campground, and a short trip to Hunters Spring is always worthwhile. Stay the night at Bear Creek Campground, and Picayune Valley is a glorious location to stretch your legs a bit. A pleasant visit to Shanks Cove is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon, and there's some flowing water close by, Whisky Creek is a stream you can pop by while you're here.
But wait, there's more cool stuff to do in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Big Spring is a lovely spot to check out while you're at Five Lakes Creek Trail, and you can run the rapids of Silver Creek - South Fork.
