This is a one trailhead backpacking trail, so you'll be backpacking it in and back out. Backcountry hiking trails like this one here in the Central Sierra Nevada are the best way to enjoy these mountaintops. The number of hiking trails in this region is not very high. For the duration of the summer at Deep Creek Trail temperatures are generally in the 90's, and the nighttime is somewhat chillier of course, generally in the 60's. Cole Spring is always fun to check out, and why not take a little spree to Nutmeg Creek since you're here. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Central Sierra Nevada. While staying at Deep Creek Trail you could always explore Blue Canyon; a good location for whitewater paddling is Big Creek Kings River Tributary.
Deep Creek Trail is wonderful enough to spend more than a day at, Cats Head Campground is a wonderful local campground; you have to certainly dedicate some time to Soaproot Flat if you're here at Deep Creek Trail. Don’t forget to stop by Bobs Flat since you're here at Deep Creek Trail, and some close by water includes Rush Creek. But wait, there's more to do in the neighborhood of Deep Creek Trail. Camping at Oakie Bear Campground is always a great experience.
