backpacking trails of the Sierra Madre are a very pleasant way to see these peaks. Deal Trail is pretty dehydrated generally; February is when you get the most rain here, and July on the other hand is the driest. The total elevation difference for Deal Trail is 1,334 feet which
is an average number. Now this backpacking trail is pretty long, so do pack enough food to last the whole trip. It's a long trip from Oxnard-Thousand Oaks-Ventura to Deal Trail, but backcountry hiking it is always enjoyable. You spend the whole backcountry hike in roughly the same
elevation zone, so you won’t have to worry about different climate zones along your backcountry hike. And keep in mind that there could be temporary safety restrictions in location.

Rancho Nuevo Campground is a brilliant campground here,
and Rancho Nuevo Creek is in the vicinity of Deal Trail and is always a joy to stop by. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Sierra Madre. Since you're here at Deal Trail why not stop by Deal Canyon, and Potrero Seco is a delightful spot.
The beauty of mother nature reveals
herself at Oak Spring, and if you came for an overnight stay Deal Campground is a perfect place to camp. There's some flowing water close by, Tinta Creek is a stream you can have a look at while you're here; a journey to Deal Trail wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Oak Springs. But wait, there's more to do in close proximity to Deal Trail.
