California hiking trails - Dan East Trail, Coast Ranges, Humboldt County

   
  Spending too much time indoors got you down? No problem, if you happen to be in Humboldt County of California, Dan East Trail is a great local backpacking trail for doing a bit of leg stretching. When you're here in California backcountry trekking along one of its hiking trails is always an enjoyable thing to do. Wilderness trails are great and plentiful in California, and Dan East Trail in Humboldt County is one of them. Every California hiking trail is different from the others. At Dan East Trail throughout the warmest time of the year highs are in
    the 90's. During the moonlight hours it's usually in the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's, and all through the dark hours in the winter at Dan East Trail temperatures drop to the 30's. This region does get very dry sometimes, so do check for current
fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. This is not a very long backpacking and hiking trail but you should still bring some emergency supplies just in case something happens. Some parts of Dan East Trail are much higher up than other parts of the wilderness hiking trail, so keep in mind that you may need to dress differently at different elevations. You should count on this trek taking about 3 hours, but of course some people walk a bit slower and some a bit faster. Great outdoors hiking trails like this one here  
in the Coast Ranges are the best way to enjoy these hills. This is one of many hiking trails in the surrounding vicinity. California has so much to offer the outdoors lovers. There are two trailheads to chose from, one in each end which means you have the option of trekking it one way if you have someone to pick you up at the other end. You'll must go far from Eureka-Arcata-Fortuna to get to Dan East Trail, but it is one of many delightful backpacking trails in this region. And keep in mind that there could be temporary safety restrictions in place. The total elevation difference for this wilderness trail is 2,406 feet which is an average number. Dan East Trail is 3.2 miles long it's a shorter type trek. Dan East Trail is a wet spot that gets a large amount of rainfall; all through December this vicinity sees the most rain, and July on the other hand is the driest. This backpacking trail is on the short side having an average number of uphill miles which makes it an outstanding hiking trail for the average person looking for an outstanding adventure.

Briefly about the general area:
Now, you may assume that's lots but there's even more entertaining stuff to do here in the Coast Ranges. It's a good idea to stop by Dan East Creek, it's next to Dan East Trail; camping is available at Slide Creek Campground. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Trinity River - South Fork, and places like Waterbarrel Opening are pleasant to pop by.
Smith Opening is a picturesque place any time of year. Dan East Trail is not far at all from Eureka-Arcata-Fortuna, and a delightful spot to camp here at Dan East Trail is Blake Spring Campground.
