California hiking trails - Crooked Lakes Trail, Northern Sierra Nevada, Nevada County       Each backcountry trail in California is beautiful in its own way. Going for a backcountry hike here in California is something that is always fun to do. Crooked Lakes Trail is a wilderness hiking trail relatively far from Truckee-Grass Valley, but it is a wonderful wilderness hiking trail. Crooked Lakes Trail is a normal length wilderness hiking trail with an average amount of climbing distance which makes this great outdoors trail great for hard core backpackers looking for adventure. Crooked Lakes Trail gets a typical amount of annual rain; January     is the month that gets the most rain, and July is the month with the least moisture. There's not much difference in elevation along Crooked Lakes Trail, so you get pretty much the same conditions along the whole hiking and backpacking trail. This vicinity does get very dry sometimes, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. Great backcountry trails in California are in abundance, and among these are Crooked Lakes Trail in Nevada County. This is just one of a large number of great outdoors trails in this neighborhood. During the warm months at Crooked Lakes Trail temperatures are commonly in the 90's. Summer nighttime lows dip down to the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's while the cold winter nights at Crooked Lakes Trail are in the 20's. With so many outdoors   things to do available in California you'll never get bored. Now this backcountry trail is pretty long, so make sure you bring plenty of supplies. And keep in mind that there could be temporary safety restrictions in place. The time needed for this hike is roughly 6.5 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. Crooked Lakes Trail has a total elevation difference of 350 feet, and that is lower than average. This is a one trailhead trail, so you'll be trekking it in and back out. Being 7.4 miles long it's an average length hiking and backpacking trail. Alright, enough of spending all this time inside a building, time to get out, and Crooked Lakes Trail in Nevada County, California is such a wonderful site. Backpacking here in the Northern Sierra Nevada is the best way to enjoy these hills. South Fork Canyon Creek is in the vicinity of Crooked Lakes Trail and is always a joy to have a look at; camping at Carr-Feeley Campground is always a fine experience. Pierce Meadow is a pretty place any time of year, and Crooked Lakes Trail is great enough to spend more than a day at, Grouse Ridge Campground is a great local campground. Loney Meadow is a great place to stretch your legs a bit; get your heart pumping on the wonderful whitewater of Fordyce Creek. All year is a glorious time in the Northern Sierra Nevada if you adore the outdoors. That right there is a heap already, but it goes on; Crooked Lakes Trail has it all. There's some flowing water close by, Alder Creek is a stream you can stop at during your stay, and you can run the rapids of Yuba River - South Fork. Crooked Lakes Trail is a place with many visitors from Truckee-Grass Valley, and a tremendous place is Poison Canyon.
