California hiking trails - Castle Lake Trail, Siskiyou County

   
  Gotta get out of the town man, and Castle Lake Trail in Siskiyou County, California is a good place to go. Great outdoors hiking trails for backcountry backpacking, and backpacking can be found all over California; one of them being Castle Lake Trail in Siskiyou County. Castle Lake Trail is situated a relatively long journey from Redding, but it is one of many great wilderness hiking trails in this region. Keep in mind that this is a long backpacking and hiking trail, so don't forget to pack enough supplies. There are not too many great outdoors trails
    in this neighborhood. An average amount of rainfall falls at Castle Lake Trail; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most rain while July is usually the driest month. The time needed for this backcountry walk is roughly 8.5 hours, but of course some folks walk
a bit slower and some a bit faster. During the warmest time of the year highs here at Castle Lake Trail get into the 80's with overnight lows in the 40's. Through the winter the highs are regularly in the 40's with temperatures at Castle Lake Trail dipping down into the 20's through winter nights. Castle Lake Trail has a total elevation difference of 588 feet which is a lower than average number. Trekking here in California is the pleasant thing to do. At parts of the year this neighborhood sees very little rain, so do check for current fire restrictions before  
you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. With its 9.2 miles of walking distance; it's considered a longer backcountry hike. The length of Castle Lake Trail is on the longer side with an average amount of climbing distance which makes this great outdoors trail great for hard core backpackers looking for adventure. Don’t forget to check for any current restrictions or closures before you go. This part of California has a tremendous deal of available outdoors things to do. Each backcountry hiking trail in California is different from the others. Castle Lake Trail is a two ended hiking trail with two trailheads, so if you can get a ride from someone, you can walk it just one way. There's not much difference in elevation along Castle Lake Trail which means the conditions are about the same from start to finish.

There are plenty of folks from Redding here at Castle Lake Trail; why not camp at Castle Lake Campground if you're here at Castle Lake Trail.
So much cool stuff to do at Castle Lake Trail, so little time. Since you're here at Castle Lake Trail why not have a look at Box Canyon; a great spot for whitewater paddling is Sacramento River. Lake Siskiyou Camp Resort is a delightful local campground, and swing by Scott Camp Creek it's a nice spot to visit. Some of the water close by flows, like Castle Lake Creek; a short trip to Faery Falls is always worthwhile.
In case you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Sacramento River, and a visit to Castle Lake Trail wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Ney Springs.
