    Trail in Riverside County, California is a fine spot to go. This is one of a very small number of great outdoors hiking trails in this area. The backcountry trails of the Santa Rosa Mountains are the best way to enjoy these highlands. This vicinity does get very dry sometimes,
so make sure you check current conditions and fire restrictions with local forest authorities before you head out. Around Cactus Spring Trail you don’t get a lot of precipitation; through the month of January you get the most rain around here while June is typically the driest month. There is only one trailhead, so you're looking at an in and out backcountry walk. This backcountry trail is many miles long with an average amount of climbing distance which makes this a very tough great outdoors hiking trail for advanced hikers looking for a brilliant challenge.  
Outdoors people generally like this part of California. High temperatures at Cactus Spring Trail through the days of summer are in the 100's. During the moonlight hours it's commonly in the 70's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 60's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Cactus Spring Trail temperatures dip to the 40's. Here in the good state of California backpacking is a good idea. Don’t forget to check for any current restrictions or closures before you go. With its 28.8 miles of walking distance; it's considered a longer trek. This backpacking trail goes through some very different elevations which of course means you need to be prepared for different conditions on different parts of the backpacking trail. Now, this is roughly a 4.5-day trek, so it's a great thing if your backpack is big enough to do the job.

Briefly about the general area:
If you like the outdoors, you'll have a thing about Cactus Spring Trail. Pinyon Alta Flat is a glorious site to stretch your legs a bit, and a great forest close by is Upper Willows. You absolutely have to adore the Santa Rosa Mountains. Pinyon Flat Campground is a good local campground; Joshua Tree National Park is a very brilliant place to pop by.
Little Pinyon Flat is a scenic spot any time of year, and hey, Guadalupe Creek is a fine local stream. Horsethief Creek is a great spot to check out, and if you came for an overnight stay Stump Spring Campground is a fine place to camp. Man, is there a heap of cool stuff to do in the Santa Rosa Mountains. It's always good to stop by Cactus Spring.
Black Rabbit Canyon is a good site to explore close by, and don't leave Cactus Spring Trail without first paying a visit to Agua Alta Spring.
