While visiting this area in California it's a brilliant idea to go backpacking too. All through the warm days of summer, highs generally are in the 60's at Bucklin Trail, and the night is quite chillier of course, generally in the 40's. High temperatures all through the winter are normally in the 50's, and after the sun is down all through the winter temperatures at Bucklin Trail plunge into the 40's. This is a two-ended great outdoors trail with two trailheads which means you have the option of backcountry trekking it one way if you have someone to pick you up at the other end. The time needed for this trek is roughly 3 hours, but of course some folks walk a bit slower and some a bit faster.

So much enjoyable stuff right next door to Bucklin Trail, completely striking. Do have a look at Upper Estero Dam while you're here at Bucklin Trail, and camping is available at Coast Campground.
A journey to Shell Beach near Bucklin Trail is always a great idea, and if you haven’t been to Point Reyes National Seashore, you must schedule some time for it while you're here. At Bucklin Trail you always meet someone from Santa Rosa-Petaluma; why not camp at Sky Campground if you're here at Bucklin Trail. Teachers Beach is in the neighborhood of Bucklin Trail and is a beautiful beach to visit; do set aside some time for Muddy Hollow since you're here at Bucklin Trail.
