This wilderness hiking trail has two trailheads which means you have the option of backcountry backpacking it one way if you have someone to pick you up at the other end. The total elevation difference for this wilderness hiking trail is 4,286 feet which is a higher than average number. Now, this is roughly a 2-day backcountry trek, so it's a tremendous thing if your backpack is big enough to do the job. Sometimes this backpacking trail gets really dry, so donít forget to check for any current fire restrictions before you go. Keep in mind that this is a long backpacking trail, so make sure you bring plenty of supplies. Some parts of Black Mountain Trail are much higher up than other parts of the backcountry trail which of course means you need to be prepared for different conditions on different parts of the backcountry trail. Being 12.6 miles long; it's considered a longer trek.
