where hiking is glorious. The time needed for this backcountry walk is roughly 3.5 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. adventure. Ben Johnson Trail is a wet site that gets a lot of precipitation; throughout the month of January you get the most rain around here while July is generally the driest month. The great outdoors trail stays roughly within the same elevation zone the whole time which means the conditions are about the same from start to finish. This is not a very long backcountry hiking trail but you should still bring some emergency supplies just in case something happens. The total elevation difference for Ben Johnson Trail is 1,350 feet which is about average. Don’t forget to check for any current restrictions or closures before you go. This is one of many hiking and backpacking trails in the surrounding vicinity.

A delightful place next to Ben Johnson Trail is Kent Canyon, and Rattlesnake Creek is one of the streams close by that might be worth checking out. Don’t forget to pop by Van Wyck Meadow while you're here at Ben Johnson Trail, and you can always enjoy a lazy day on the beach at Muir Beach.
