This wilderness trail is on the short side having an average number of uphill miles which makes it a glorious wilderness trail for the average person looking for a glorious adventure. Summertime highs at Walnut Canyon Loop Trail commonly tend to be in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 40's. Throughout the winter this spot gets highs in the 40's; after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Walnut Canyon Loop Trail fall into the 0's.  
The total elevation difference for this backpacking and hiking trail is 405 feet which is a lower than average number. Here in the good state of Arizona backcountry trekking never gets boring. Walnut Canyon Loop Trail is not very right next door to Flagstaff at all, but if you're looking for a fine location to go backpacking, this is a fine selection.
