    hiking trails in this region. The backcountry hiking trails of the Mogollon Rim Mountains are a very great way to see these mountains. The time needed for this backcountry trek is roughly 9 hours, but of course some people walk a bit slower and some a bit faster. Don’t forget to
check for any current restrictions or closures before you go. This is a long trail, so don't forget to pack enough supplies. Shake Tree Trail is a one trailhead backcountry hiking trail, so you're looking at an in and out backcountry walk. The total elevation difference for this backcountry hiking trail is 2,355 feet, and that is about average. This region does get very dry sometimes, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. Through the summer months at Shake Tree Trail highs are commonly  
in the 100's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 50's with temperatures at Shake Tree Trail dipping down into the 30's during winter nights. Shake Tree Trail goes through some very different elevations, so keep in mind that you may need to dress differently at different elevations. It is very waterless here at Shake Tree Trail usually; all through August this neighborhood sees the most rain, and June meanwhile is the driest month. Shake Tree Trail is a long trip away from Payson, but it is one of many great backcountry trails in this region. With its 10.2 miles of walking distance; it's a long wilderness hiking trail. Each one of the many hiking trails of Arizona is well worth a backcountry trek.

Briefly about the general area:
Stay the night at Jakes Corner RV Park; getting to Center Creek from Shake Tree Trail is simple. This spot, the Mogollon Rim Mountains, has so much outdoors cool stuff. Eisenhauer Spring is an inspiring place to check out while here, and a pleasant place is Shake Tree Canyon.
You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the amusing things at Shake Tree Trail. Take a little trip to Alder Creek since you're here at Shake Tree Trail; a short tour to Garden Spring is always worthwhile. Shake Tree Trail is a perfect site to visit for more than one day, Oxbow Estates RV Park is a perfect site to camp nearby, and if you come at the right time of year, Tonto Creek offers some wonderful whitewater. So much enjoyable stuff to do in the Mogollon Rim Mountains, not enough time.
Everybody loves Y Bar Basin, and there are some wonderful whitewater spots on East Verde River.
