This is not a very long backcountry hiking trail but it's always pleasant to bring some emergency supplies, you never know what could happen. With its 4.8 miles of walking distance it's an average length hiking trail. This backcountry hiking trail sometimes gets very dry, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. The total elevation difference for this backpacking and hiking trail is 839 feet, and that is lower than average. Safford Morence Trail stays roughly within the same elevation zone the whole time, so you get pretty much the same conditions along the whole hiking trail. There are two trailheads to chose from, one in each end which means you have the option of backcountry trekking it one way if you have someone to pick you up at the other end. You should count on this trek taking about 4.5 hours, but of course some people walk a bit slower and some a bit faster.
