There are so many wonderful hiking and backpacking trails for backcountry trekking in Arizona; one of these is Old Mail Trail in Gila County. This part of Arizona has a fine deal of available outdoors pastimes. This area does get very dry sometimes, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. |

nature. Every Arizona hiking and backpacking trail is worth backcountry trekking. Some parts of Old Mail Trail are much higher up than other parts of the wilderness hiking trail which of course means you need to be prepared for different conditions on different parts of the wilderness
hiking trail. This is a one trailhead backcountry hiking trail, so you'll be backpacking it in and back out. With its 10.2 miles of walking distance; it's a long wilderness hiking trail. Time to get out, and breathe some fresh air, and Old Mail Trail in Gila County, Arizona is

Briefly about the general area: There's so much to do here at Old Mail Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Kokopellis's Retreat is a good place for that, and a spree to McDonald Pocket revitalizes the spirit. Don't forget to
take a tremendous little spree to Sand Wash, and Tonto Creek is a great whitewater spot nearby. Life's too short to enjoy all the cool stuff in the Mogollon Rim Mountains. Since you're here at Old Mail Trail why not pop by Brushy Hollow, and if you came to camp Oxbow Estates
RV Park is a perfect spot to do that. So much exciting stuff in the Mogollon Rim Mountains, just tremendous. In the event that you don't mind getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on East Verde River. A short trip to Felton Spring is always worthwhile; Curry Basin
is a wonderful place. Having a wonderful time at Old Mail Trail is trouble-free. Neal Spring is a beautiful place to explore while you're at Old Mail Trail; why not explore nearby Houston Creek if you're here at Old Mail Trail.
