There are two trailheads to chose from, one in each end, so if you can get a ride from someone, you can trek it just one way. At parts of the year this region sees very little rain, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. Loy Butte Five goes through some very different elevations, so keep in mind that you may need to dress differently at different elevations. Loy Butte Five is 9.6 miles long; it's considered a longer hike. Loy Butte Five is quite long, so don't forget to pack enough supplies. Loy Butte Five has a total elevation difference of 2,111 feet which is about average. The time needed for this backcountry trek is roughly 8 hours, but of course some people walk a bit slower and some a bit faster.
