Mountains are the best way to enjoy these mountaintops. It's a long trip from Payson to Coon Spring Trail, but It's always enjoyable to trek here. Now this great outdoors hiking trail is pretty long, so make sure you bring plenty of supplies. Coon Spring Trail has two trailheads,
| | so if you can get a ride from someone, you can backcountry trek it just one way. Please follow all local rules about fires and camping. The time needed for this trek is roughly 8.5 hours, but of course some folks walk a bit slower and some a bit faster. The warmest time of the year at Coon Spring Trail arrives with high temperatures in the 100's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 60's.
