There is only one trailhead, so in and out is the way to hike it normally. At parts of the year this neighborhood sees very little rain, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. Even though this is not a very long backcountry hiking trail you should still bring some emergency supplies just in case something happens. Being 4.8 miles long it's an average length wilderness trail. Different parts of Basin Trail Two Hundred Fortyseven are at very different elevations which of course means you need to be prepared for different conditions on different parts of the wilderness trail.
