Can’t wait to get out in the fresh air, Barnhardt Trail in Gila County, Arizona is just the spot. Here in the good state of Arizona backcountry trekking never gets boring. There are so many good backpacking trails for backcountry trekking in Arizona, and among these are Barnhardt Trail in Gila County. It is very waterless here at Barnhardt Trail ordinarily; the month with most of the rain is August, and the driest month of the year is
    June. This is a region covered with lots of wilderness trails. Barnhardt Trail is 11.6 miles long; it's a long great outdoors trail. This hiking and backpacking trail sometimes gets very dry, so make sure you check current conditions and fire restrictions with local forest authorities
before you head out. Don’t forget to check for any current restrictions or closures before you go. It's a lengthy journey from Payson to Barnhardt Trail, but it is a really great backpacking trail. This is a hiking and backpacking trail that is quite long, so make sure you bring plenty of supplies. Now, this is roughly a 1.5-day hike, so make sure you've got all your overnight gear packed. Each backpacking trail in Arizona has its own character. The length of this backpacking trail is on the longer side having an average number of uphill miles which makes  
it a fine wilderness trail for experienced backcountry trekkers in glorious shape. For the duration of the warm days of summer highs here at Barnhardt Trail reach the 100's; during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. During the wintertime the highs are generally in the 50's while Barnhardt Trail night low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 30's. The total elevation difference for Barnhardt Trail is 2,143 feet which is about average. The beautiful backpacking trails of the Mogollon Rim Mountains are a very magnificent way to see these peaks. Arizona is a brilliant outdoors state. There is only one trailhead, so you'll be trekking it in and back out. Different parts of Barnhardt Trail are at very different elevations which of course means you need to be prepared for different conditions on different parts of the great outdoors trail.

Briefly about the general area:
A short tour to Castersen Seep is always worthwhile; while you're here at Barnhardt Trail it's a great idea to go to Maverick Basin. So many fun things in the Mogollon Rim Mountains, just impressive. A trip to Barnhardt Trail wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Malpais Spring. Don't you try to stop me, cause I'm havin' a brilliant time here at Barnhardt Trail. Do set aside some time for Y Bar Basin while you're here at Barnhardt Trail, and as expected Center Creek is a wonderful stream that is worth checking out.
Life's too short to enjoy all the cool stuff in the Mogollon Rim Mountains. Get yourself into a kayak and hit East Verde River, and Barnhardt Trail is wonderful enough to spend more than a day at, Oxbow Estates RV Park is a wonderful local campground. Near Barnhardt Trail you discover nice places like Sandy Saddle; why not have a look at close by North Fork Deadman Creek since you're here at Barnhardt Trail. If you come at the right time of year, Tonto Creek offers some delightful whitewater; camping at Kool Oaks Trailer Park is always a glorious experience.
