Arizona is a good spot for outdoors people. Rather far from Payson you find Barnhardt Trail, but what a brilliant place for backcountry backpacking it is. There are so many great wilderness hiking trails for hiking in Arizona, and one of these is Barnhardt Trail in Gila County. And keep in mind that there could be temporary safety restrictions in site. This neighborhood does get very dry sometimes, so don’t forget to check for any current
    fire restrictions before you go. Being 11.6 miles long; it's longer than many wilderness trails. The scenic hiking trails of the Mogollon Rim Mountains are the best way to enjoy these summits. This great outdoors trail has a total elevation difference of 2,143 feet which is about
average. This hiking trail is many miles long having an average number of uphill miles which makes this hiking trail brilliant for hard core backpackers looking for adventure. Now this wilderness hiking trail is pretty long, so make sure you bring plenty of supplies. Some parts of this wilderness trail are much higher up than other parts of the wilderness trail, and that means that some parts of the wilderness trail could be very different from other parts of it. It is very dehydrated here at Barnhardt Trail generally; August is the month that gets the  
most rain while June is the month with the least amount of precipitation. This trek should take you about 1.5 days, so it's a wonderful thing if your backpack is big enough to do the job. When was the last time you got out in the fresh air a bit? if you happen to be in Gila County of Arizona, Barnhardt Trail is a brilliant local backcountry hiking trail for doing a bit of leg stretching. Here in the great state of Arizona hiking never gets boring. High temperatures at Barnhardt Trail through the warm months are in the 100's with night lows in the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 50's, and night lows in the 30's for Barnhardt Trail. There is only one trailhead, so you're looking at an in and out backcountry trek. There are so many hiking trails in this neighborhood. Every single Arizona wilderness hiking trail has its own character.

Briefly about the general area:
The beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Castersen Seep, and why not go to nearby North Fork Deadman Creek since you're here at Barnhardt Trail. Life's too short to enjoy all the cool stuff in the Mogollon Rim Mountains. Barnhardt Trail is delightful enough to spend more than a day at, Oxbow Estates RV Park is a delightful local campground, and a splendid place to stop by nearby is Sandy Saddle. I can't stop, cause I'm havin' a perfect time here at Barnhardt Trail. Don't forget to take a fine little trip to Center Creek, and a pleasant trip to Maverick Basin is a good way to spend an afternoon.
A visit to Malpais Spring will fill your spirit with splendid feelings, and if you come at the right time of year, East Verde River offers some perfect whitewater. So many exciting things in the Mogollon Rim Mountains, just extraordinary. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Tonto Creek. A tremendous place to camp here at Barnhardt Trail is Kool Oaks Trailer Park, and since you're here at Barnhardt Trail it's a nice idea to go to Y Bar Basin.
